About Gilbert

Where is the Gilbert?: The easiest way to get to the Gilbert is to take underground line U3 or tram line 49. From Volkstheater station (Burggasse exit), it's only a 200-metre walk to Breite Gasse 9. Volkstheater station is an important inner city public transport hub. Through the underground Bellaria passage, it connects the museum quarter with the Ringstrasse, the Vienna ring road, that is around 300 metres away. You'll therefore also be at truly your hotel from the 1, 2, 71, D and 48A tram stops in eight to ten minutes.
How do I get to the city centre?: The Gilbert is located right in the middle of Vienna's buzzing city centre. The museum quarter is only around 100 metres away. The Natural History Museum Vienna, the Kunsthistorisches Museum Vienna and the Ringstrasse ring road are only around a ten-minute walk away. Underground line U3 will take you directly to St Stephen's Cathedral (Stephansdom) in only a few minutes.
How do I get to the airport?: You can reach the airport by public transport – the easiest way is to take underground line U3 to Landstrasse/Wien Mitte station. From there, you can catch the City Airport Train CAT and the S7 metropolitan railway express line directly to Vienna International Airport around every 30 minutes. By car, the best route is via Gumpendorferstrasse, Getreidemarkt and Heumarkt, then on via Dampfschiffstrasse to its junction with the A4 motorway, which leads directly to the airport. If the traffic isn't too busy, it's around a 30-minute drive. However, the Gilbert will also be happy to arrange transport to the airport for you.
Where can I park?: Parking charges apply on all public car parking spaces throughout Vienna's 7th district; most parking zones are also for residents only. The Gilbert therefore recommends using one of the underground car parks nearby (charges apply), for example the one near the museum quarter. In Vienna, electric cars can be charged at public charging stations throughout the city. The nearest ones are located in Breitegasse 10-12 and in Siebensterngasse 11.

How do I book a room at the Gilbert?: The easiest way is simply via the online booking tool on our website. However, you can also just send an email to welcome@hotel-gilbert.at or call us on +43 1 523 13 45, of course.
What's the earliest I can check in?: You're always welcome at the Gilbert. On the day of your arrival, you can of course check in whenever you feel like it, and already enjoy &flora's hospitality or explore the immediate vicinity. Your room will then be ready for you from 3 p.m. onwards.
What's the latest I can check out?: Although we are sorry to see you go, we still have to ask you to please check out by 11 a.m. on the day of your departure so the Gilbert can spruce itself up for its next guests. A late check out is only possible if this has been agreed with reception beforehand. Please ask us by noon of the previous day, at the latest – the Gilbert will then do everything it can to make a late check out possible.
I have mobility issues. How can I book an accessible room?: Please make sure to contact the Gilbert beforehand either by calling us or via email to explain your situation. We will then find the optimum room for you and can also check whether our accessible hotel room is vacant. Without exception, all public areas at the Gilbert are fully accessible. Of course you can also enjoy all of the conveniences of Breite Gasse 9 if you are wheelchair-bound.
Can I bring my dog?: Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate your four-legged friend in our rooms, so we kindly ask you to leave your pets at home if possible. However, dogs are always welcome at the &flora.

Your culinary pleasures

Who or what is &flora?: &flora is a culinary hotspot for locals and visitors to Vienna, and Gilbert's congenial partner. The café-brasserie is the first point of call for outstanding liquid as well as more substantial culinary delights. The current opening hours are:
Mondays: 07:30 am - 04:00 pm.
breakfast until 10:30 am, business lunch 12:00 - 02:30 pm, snacks until 03:30 pm
Tuesday to Friday: 07:30 am - midnight
breakfast until 10:30 am, business lunch 12:00 - 02:30 pm, dinner from 05:30 pm

What about breakfast?: Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. That's why from Wednesday to Friday from 07:30 am to 12:00 am and on Saturdays and Sundays from 08:30 am to 4:00 pm there's a choice of everything your heart desires from &flora's delicious breakfast menu. On Mondays and Tuesdays we serve croissants and coffee as well as snacks from our snack menu from 07:30 am.
And if I want to eat something at other times of the day?: Then &flora will serve you almost anything else you might want until 11 p.m.
Until what time can I treat myself to a last late night drink in the bar?: Our bar is open until midnight, because people who are exploring the city all day long or have business-related plans should be able to treat themselves to a drink or two created by our mixologists, of course.
